Extremal Interpolation Approximate Jets, Uniform Height, and Algebraic Degree Escape

Under rational flattening the extremal interpolation slope approximates s to exact order Q^{−(M²−1)} with uniformly bounded height, but its algebraic degree necessarily escapes to infinity (Northcott); a crude effective degree bound (log Q)^{1/4} follows via Waldschmidt; the bottleneck becomes arithmetic degree control.

R28 constructs an approximate one-jet and shows degree escape; it does not close the AOJBP. §22 of the paper is 'why this does not close the AOJBP'. The degree bound here is superseded by R30 and R31.
